Winnipeg friends split $2 million WESTERN MAX prize!

Ava Bobiak and Aziz Shirazi won $2 million on WESTERN MAX!

The roommates and friends said they’ve been buying tickets together regularly for years and love to dream about what they would do if they won.

When the pair first scanned their ticket, they were thrilled to see a major win.

“I thought it said twenty thousand, and I was so excited!” laughed Shirazi. “I went home and then had to Google exactly how many zeroes are in a million—Google said I won $2 million!”

“I just laughed,” Bobiak said.

As for their dreams, the two have both been working in kitchens for much of their lives and Shirazi has his sights set on a business of his own.

“I want to open my own restaurant,” he beamed. “I’ve been thinking about it for years— it’s all I’ve ever wanted.”

“Aside from that—I’d like to find my own place and maybe get a new car,” he continued.

Bobiak’s plans are still in the works.

“I’d mostly like to focus on saving for retirement,” she said. “And I’d like a new car!”

The two have won a $2 million to split between the two of them and say it’s worked out perfectly for them to each pursue their own dreams and finally have their own homes.

Shirazi and Bobiak purchased their winning ticket from 7-Eleven at 568 Osborne Street in Winnipeg. They won their prize by matching all seven numbers on the June 17 WESTERN MAX draw: 11, 14, 17, 19, 22, 33, and 37.

Myth:  I’ve noticed a pattern in the numbers that have been drawn over the past few weeks.

Fact:  Human brains like to look for patterns.  But any patterns you notice in lottery numbers are meaningless.  Looking at past numbers is like looking in the rearview mirror of your car – it doesn’t tell you what’s ahead.
