Whitehorse local wins $333K on LOTTO MAX!

Krisha Thomas won $333,333.40 plus a Free Play on the November 25 LOTTO MAX draw!

The Whitehorse local was on a quick grocery run when she discovered the win.

“We were almost out of creamer, and I thought, ‘Oh, I'll pick some up,’ and that's when I checked the ticket!” Thomas said. “I went to the cashier, and I wasn't even paying attention to the screen, and she looked at me and said, ‘Oh my God, you won!’”

“I almost passed out,” laughed Thomas. “I was on the ground. They had to help me go sit down, I was just in shock!”

The Whitehorse winner said the win feels special for a few reasons— notably, because of all the ways it will benefit Thomas’ family.

“I have lots of plans,” she explained. “My mom will get to retire early— she’s a fulltime caregiver for my brother who is paralyzed so it's a big deal for me to make it possible for her to retire.”

“I'm also buying my brother a new scooter that will make it possible for him to drive himself to his workplace instead of relying on transportation,” she smiled. “And I'm in the process of buying myself a vehicle. The rest, I'll invest!”

Thomas said she’s thrilled by the win and that it has come at a perfect time.

She purchased her winning LOTTO MAX ticket from Shoppers Drug Mart at #2 303 Ogilvie Street in Whitehorse. She won her prize by matching one of the MAXMILLIONS selections, sharing the prize with two other winning tickets purchased in Ontario: 5, 9, 10, 11, 17, 20, and 48.

Myth: Players in big cities/provinces have a better chance of winning a jackpot.

Fact: Every selection has the same chance of winning as every other selection sold for the same game, regardless of where you purchase it. Over time, locations of winning tickets tend to reflect the total proportion sold in an area, but provinces and cities don’t win lotteries – individual people or groups do.
