Sherwood Park Local Wins $250,000 on EXTRA!

“I feel truly blessed… and shocked!”

After taking a break from buying lottery tickets, Crystal Skelton decided to give it another try at her husband's suggestion. That decision led to a surprise she never saw coming: a $250,000 win on the September 12 LOTTO 6/49 and EXTRA draw.

The Sherwood Park local said her return to lottery play was a recent development.

"I hadn't bought tickets in years,” she explained. “But my husband mentioned that I should, so I started again."

When she stopped to check her ticket, something different caught her ear.

"The sound on the machine sounded different, and I wasn’t attention,” she laughed. “Then a guy said congratulations.”

"I looked up and it said, 'Major Winner' on the screen,” she continued. “I started to shake and called my husband, who was outside in the car, to come in and see."

As the excitement started to settle in, Skelton started thinking about her plans for the prize.

"I'm going to buy a newer vehicle and put money down on a home,” she said. “I feel truly blessed… and shocked!”

The Sherwood Park resident purchased her winning ticket from the 7-Eleven located at 15310 18 Street NW in Edmonton. She won he prize by matching the EXTRA number selected on the September 12 draw – 5572910.

Myth: Players in big cities/provinces have a better chance of winning a jackpot.

Fact: Every selection has the same chance of winning as every other selection sold for the same game, regardless of where you purchase it. Over time, locations of winning tickets tend to reflect the total proportion sold in an area, but provinces and cities don’t win lotteries – individual people or groups do.
