Million-dollar WESTERN MAX win in Edmonton!
“[I was] completely overrun with emotions. It’s very emotional for me!”
Gilbert Cabarrubias scanned his March 7 WESTERN MAX ticket and thought the machine was showing him a barcode. But it wasn’t a barcode, it was a $1 million prize!
“At first I thought I broke something,” he laughed. “Then I thought I was looking at a bunch of zeroes in a barcode.”
“I checked it again and the same thing came up,” he continued. “I gave the ticket to the retailer to check it and then it clicked – major winner!”
The Edmonton local said he was stunned by his win.
“I was just shaking,” he explained. “Completely overrun with emotions. It’s very emotional for me!”
Cabarrubias said he has a few ideas for his recent windfall.
“I’m going to pay everything off; bills, mortgage, all of it!” he said. “And I’m going to take a trip home to the Phillippines.”
“I made a promise to myself, if something good [like this] ever happens to me, I will help to rebuild the church at home,” he beamed. “It’s all starting to feel real now!”
Cabarrubias purchased his winning WESTERN MAX ticket from the Circle K located at 18208 89 Avenue NW in Edmonton. He won his million-dollar prize by correctly matching one of the 14 additional prize draws on March 7 – 8, 10, 17, 27, 28, 32 and 37.
