LIGHTNING LOTTO strikes in Winnipeg: a $791K win!

Alba Gutierrez is the winner of a $791,711.10 LIGHTNING LOTTO jackpot! 

The Winnipeg local said she has been playing the LIGHTNING LOTTO regularly since its launch in April last year. 

“My sons take me for coffee every day and we buy a ticket and chat,” she explained. “It’s become a routine!” 

Gutierrez said she was so used to hearing the LIGHTNING LOTTO thunder sound, she didn’t even look up to see how much she had won this time around! 

“[The screen showed] that I was a winner, but I didn’t realize how much until I showed it to my husband!” Gutierrez laughed. “We checked it on the Lotto Spot app and realized it was a lot!” 

Gutierrez called her son to tell him and cried on the phone. 

“I’m just so happy,” she said. “I’m going to look at buying a house and pay some bills off!” 

Of course, the Winnipeg winner is excited to share her win with her sons, as well. 

Gutierrez purchased her winning LIGHTNING LOTTO ticket from Smitty’s Restaurant and Lounge at 2305 McPhillips Street in Winnipeg. She won her prize by matching all five numbers in the selection for the July 16 LIGHTNING LOTTO draw: 11, 23, 27, 34, and 36.
