Île-des-Chênes winner takes home $1M on LOTTO 6/49 with PlayNow!

Richard Hall has won $1 million on LOTTO 6/49 with PlayNow!

The Île-des-Chênes winner said he received an email saying he had won a prize following the draw.

“I thought it was probably another Free Play so I didn’t check it right away,” he admitted. “When I finally opened it, it had a strange screen I had never seen before!”

“It had a one with a bunch of zeroes and I thought, ‘What the heck is this?!’”

Hall called WCLC to confirm the prize was real.

“It was real!” he said. “I told my wife, ‘You’re not going to believe what’s going on!”

“She asked me what was happening, and I told her, ‘I think I’m a millionaire,’” he said. “She said, ‘Oh get out of here!’”

The win is sentimental for Hall as well.

“My dad always played,” he explained. “We played together on PlayNow. He always thought he’d win and he passed away a few years back.”

“I keep thinking back to my father and thinking about what his reaction would have been,” he smiled. “It would have been over the top!”

Hall said his family is planning on taking a practical approach with the winnings: putting plenty into savings and investing.

He admits though, that they’re also hoping to enjoy some of it.

“We are talking about building a pool for my grandkids and kids to enjoy!” he said.

Hall purchased his winning LOTTO 6/49 ticket through PlayNow. He won his prize in the April 12 GOLD BALL draw with the selection:  30328941-01, a white ball.

Myth: Players in big cities/provinces have a better chance of winning a jackpot.

Fact: Every selection has the same chance of winning as every other selection sold for the same game, regardless of where you purchase it. Over time, locations of winning tickets tend to reflect the total proportion sold in an area, but provinces and cities don’t win lotteries – individual people or groups do.
