High River local wins $100K on EXTRA back in January!

Wayne Hosmer loves the process of playing the lottery: buying in store, checking under the in-store scanners, and seeing if he has won. This time, he did! 

The High River local took home a $100,000 prize on EXTRA after purchasing a LOTTO MAX and EXTRA ticket for the January 28 draw. 

“I don’t check online so I have to wait till I remember to check in store,” he explained. “I think it’s more fun at the checker to just put it underneath the scanner and see.” 

“I looked at the screen and took a picture of it when I saw the prize!” he continued. “Then I walked home and showed my wife.” 

Hosmer may like playing the lottery, but he admits he’s never thought about what he’d actually spend the winnings on...until now! 

“Our vehicle is aging so we’d like to get a new one for sure,” he said. “I’m still thinking about what else I’d like to do with it.” 

Hosmer purchased his winning LOTTO MAX and EXTRA ticket from A Plus 1 Convenience at 90 3 Avenue W in High River. He won his prize by matching the last six digits in the January 28 EXTRA draw: 5111717.
