Grande Prairie local struck a $220,284 LIGHTNING LOTTO win!

What started as a routine stop to cash in a lottery ticket turned electric for Grande Prairie resident Britney MacNeil, who discovered she won $220,284.90 on the February 21 LIGHTNING LOTTO draw.

MacNeil purchased her winning ticket at Giant Tiger, located at 112‑11030 100 Street in Grande Prairie. The win came as a complete surprise.

“I just stood there and stared at the amount on the screen for a while,” she said, recalling the moment she realized she was holding the winning ticket.

MacNeil explained she hadn’t initially planned on buying a LIGHTNING LOTTO ticket that day. “I had a ticket to cash in, so I decided to get one as well,” she said.

The suspense built as she checked her ticket. “I saw it said winner, but it hadn’t come up on the screen yet,” MacNeil said.

When the amount finally appeared, it was a moment she won’t soon forget.

For MacNeil, the win brings more than excitement – it brings relief: “It’s a big stress relief,” she said.

LIGHTNING LOTTO offers players a chance to win instantly or through daily draws. For MacNeil, a spontaneous decision won big, showing that sometimes, lightning really does strike when you least expect it.

Myth: I’m never going to win a jackpot because I don’t live in a big city or in another province.

Fact: Provinces and cities don’t win lotteries – individual people or groups do. Every selection has the same chance of winning as every other selection sold for the same game, regardless of where you purchase it. Over time, locations of winning tickets do tend to reflect the total proportion sold in an area.
