From Dog Walk to Dollar Signs: $1M LOTTO MAX win in Lethbridge!

A routine dog walk turned into a million-dollar moment for one Lethbridge woman.

Sandra Mogdan check her December 31 LOTTO MAX ticket a local gas station after walking her two big dogs on their usual stroll.

“I was stunned,” she laughed while claiming her prize. “I may have said some mildly explicit words [at the time]!”

Shortly after, the new winner bought a couple coffees and went to see her husband to tell him the news.

“It took him a few minutes for it to register for him,” she said. “[We both] still think it’s unreal!”

When it comes to how she plans to spend her windfall, Mogdan has a couple practical ideas.

“I’m hoping we’ll get our driveway fixed,” she explained. “[After that], I am going to invest and save the rest.”

“My husband and I are in our 60s, so it is just going to change the rest of our life,” she said. “We had an idea of what the next twenty years would look like and now, that is changing.”

“We're going to be way more comfortable in retirement and better able to help our grandchildren.

Mogdan purchased her winning LOTTO MAX ticket at Lakeview Gas King, located at 2710 12 Avenue S in Lethbridge. She won one of the 51 MAXMILLIONS draws on December 30. The winning selection was (exact match) 2, 4, 9, 24, 35, 45 and 48.
