Edmonton local wins $2M on WESTERN 649!

What started as a familiar routine with a cup of coffee turned into a life-changing moment for Norman Johnston. The Edmonton local won $2 million on the January 28 WESTERN 649 draw. 

“I checked my numbers on the WCLC website,” he said. “I sat down on the couch, coffee in hand, and brought up the website to check the winning numbers – I do this every Wednesday and Saturday night.” 

After realizing he had the winning numbers, Johnston did what many winners do – he shared the news with family: “I told my daughter right away,” he laughed. “She asked me why I was getting her out of bed so late!” 

With his win still sinking in, Johnston says he’s taking his time deciding what will come next. 

“I might do some travel eventually and visit family in Ontario,” Johnston said. “I'm a big-time fisherman so I'd love to travel and do some fishing too!” 

Speaking of fishing, the Edmontonian is thinking about a few little luxuries closer to home as well. 

“We might upgrade the ice fishing shack,” he smiled. “And I was thinking about getting a place near the lakes I like to fish here.” 

For now, Johnston is enjoying the excitement of the moment. 

Johnston purchased his winning ticket at Circle K, 150-6655 178 Street NW in Edmonton. The January 28 winning numbers were 7, 24, 35, 37, 47 and 49 (exact match).
