Carstairs local wins $200,000 GOLD prize on GET THE GOLD ticket!

What started as a quick check of a Scratch & Win ticket turned into an unforgettable discovery for Tanya Hareuther.

The Carstairs local won the top prize of $200,000 worth of gold on a $50 GET THE GOLD Scratch & Win ticket.

When she first saw her prize amount, Hareuther didn't immediately realize the magnitude of what she uncovered.

"At first, I thought I won $200, but then I saw the gold bar image," she recalled. "It took me a minute to put it all together."

“After that, I was super excited and shaking," she continued. "I told my husband and kids – everyone was excited!"

Released earlier this year, GET THE GOLD offers players the chance to win the game's grand prize: $200,000 worth of gold. While Hareuther hadn't played the game before, the unique prize certainly caught her attention after her win.

"I hadn't played this game before, and I didn't realize you win actual GOLD!" she laughed.

Now that the excitement has started to settle, Hareuther said she has started thinking about how the prize will help her family: "I'm going to put a chunk of the money toward the mortgage and then maybe plan a trip," she shared.

Hareuther purchased her winning ticket at Can Convenience (Esso), located at 841 Main Avenue W in Sundre. GET THE GOLD is available at Lotto Spot retail locations across the region.
