Calgary local discovers $1M LOTTO MAX prize months after the draw!

Ming Zhu was shocked to see his LOTTO MAX ticket from August 9, 2024, was a $1,000,000 winner.  The Calgary local said he had forgotten to check the ticket and is now absolutely stunned. 

“I checked [the ticket] again and again,” he said. “Then I left the store and told the news to my wife.” 

“She didn’t believe me, so I used my laptop to show her on the website,” he continued. 

Once the Calgary winner had convinced his wife of the major windfall, the pair were ecstatic and deciding how they would spend it together. 

“We’re going to buy a new home,” Zhu said. 

“I have bought tickets for many years, thinking, ‘I bought, I have a chance,’” he smiled. 

That chance is one Zhu is glad he did not miss.  

Draw-based tickets expire one year from the draw date printed on the ticket. Prizes cannot be claimed on expired tickets as they are no longer valid once that date has passed. More information about prize claiming is available on wclc.com. 

Zhu purchased his winning LOTTO MAX ticket from Shoppers Drug Mart at 5628 4 Street NW in Calgary. He won his prize by matching the selection for one of the MAXMILLIONS draws in the August 9, 2024 LOTTO MAX draw: 8, 22, 26, 32, 38, 41, and 44.
