Calgarians win $15M LOTTO MAX jackpot!

Kathleen Polyak and Stuart Rudolph won a $15 million jackpot on LOTTO MAX! 

Polyak was in the bath when she first discovered the win. 

“Stu sent me a screenshot from a CTV article that said there was a $15 million winner in Calgary and asked me to check our tickets,” she explained. “I checked them and immediately asked him to meet me in the living room to check again with me—I thought I was mistaken!” 

The $15 million news was shocking to Polyak and Rudolph, who said at their prize claim interview they hadn’t been sleeping much since learning about the win. 

“It’s been a rollercoaster,” laughed Polyak, who purchased their winning ticket using a Free Play they had won on a previous LOTTO MAX draw. 

“I buy tickets because I like permission to daydream,” said Rudolph. “I like imagining winning, but the reality is hard to believe!” 

Now, the Calgary couple is making plans for how they’ll enjoy their $15 million winnings. 

“We’re going to make sure we can retire, pay off some bills, and see what comes next,” said Polyak. “Before you win, you have grandiose ideas of what you’ll do; now the reality is setting in that we need to be responsible and figure out what are the practical things we need.”  

“I’m excited to be able to go to my goddaughter’s wedding overseas in France,” she continued. 

Rudolph has his sights set on upgrading his garage. 

“I can get more tools and build a super-garage, or ‘garage-mahal,’” he chuckled. “I can also take a break from work and take some time to fix up my car.” 

The pair said the feeling of winning is unexpected. 

“It’s opened so many doors and opened up so many possibilities,” Polyak smiled. 

“It’ll be such a relief to pay the mortgage and the bills completely and then look forward to our first holiday in a long time,” added Rudolph. 

Polyak and Rudolph purchased their winning LOTTO MAX ticket from Save-On Foods at 420 Na’a Plaza SW in Calgary. They won their $15 million jackpot in the May 26 LOTTO MAX draw by matching all seven numbers: 3, 4, 5, 12, 22, 32, and 34.
