$1M LOTTO MAX win in Airdrie!
James Fleming is officially a millionaire, after winning $1 million on the August 19 LOTTO MAX draw!
The Airdrie resident said when he took several tickets in store to scan them, he was stunned when the very first one he checked was a winner.
“At first, I thought it was $100,000,” he admitted. “The cashier that scanned it for me thought that it was as well—then we realized it was a million!”
“She gave me two high fives and a hug afterwards!” he laughed.
Once the shock had worn off, the winner was overwhelmed with excitement.
“Oh God, I cried!” he laughed. “It was so unexpected.”
Fleming said he’s looking forward to what the win represents: the start of a new chapter in his life.
“This will allow me to retire rather than keep working,” he smiled. “I’ve discussed a lot of things I can do… some upgrades around the house, a new car, and going on a couple trips.”
“I may possibly buy a place in the Dominican Republic to live down there!” he said.
Fleming purchased his winning LOTTO MAX ticket from 7-Eleven at 213 800 Yankee Valley Boulevard SW in Airdrie. He won his prize by matching one of the two winning MAXMILLIONS selections in the August 19 draw: 16, 18, 20, 21, 24, 25, and 46.
