$1 million SET FOR LIFE win in Crystal City!
“I was speechless!”
They say: “Mother knows best,” and for Kelvin Kidd, they were absolutely right. The Crystal City local won $1 million on his SET FOR LIFE Scratch & Win ticket years after his mother-in-law predicted he would win the lottery.
“It was kind of an inside joke,” he said while claiming his prize. “Whenever I didn’t win, I would look up to her [in heaven] and say, ‘Didn’t win this one…’”
“But not this time!” he laughed.
The new winner said this time around, he couldn’t find the words to tell his mother-in-law the good news.
“I was speechless!” he exclaimed. “And in shock.”
Kidd said he has a few ideas for his million-dollar windfall, starting with taking care of his family.
“We have kids and grandkids,” he said. “We’re going to look after them; maybe buy the girls cars and put [some money] away for our grandkids’ education.”
The winner said he also has some ideas to celebrate with his wife.
“Honestly, there’s nothing urgent for us,” he explained. “We’re very happy where we are. But we’d like to travel; we go to Mexico every year, maybe next time we’ll go to Portugal!”
Kidd opted to take home SET FOR LIFE’s single payment of $1 million (over of the $1,000 a week for life annuity). He purchased his winning ticket from Garven Grocery Store, located at 66002 Lorne Hill Road in Springfield, MB.
