Emotional celebration for Candle Lake resident following $100,000 EXTRA win

Joanne Angelstad felt a rush of emotions over her $100,000 EXTRA win on the February 21 LOTTO 6/49 draw. 

The Candle Lake local said the experience literally brought her to tears. 

“I went to scan my tickets quickly while I was leaving the hospital with my sister,” she explained. “I thought I’d won $1,000 and then saw the full amount and screamed!”  

“I had a few tears while telling my sister,” She continued. 

Angelstad said her emotional response brought others in on their celebration. 

“The cashier asked if she could give me a hug, then two other ladies in the store congratulated and hugged me, too,” she smiled. “It was nice how excited they all were for me.” 

When the winner told her husband later that day, he thought it was an early April Fool’s Day joke. 

“I had to put my sister on the phone to confirm it to him,” she laughed. 

The winner plans to pay bills and said it’s a relief to be able to do so. 

“I still can’t believe it,” she said. “I always thought it would be nice to win enough to be debt free.” 

Angelstad purchased her winning ticket for $4 at the Save-On-Foods located at 151 Gibson Bend in Saskatoon. She won her prize by matching the last six numbers of the EXTRA draw selected on Feb. 21 — 3213351.
