Alberta lottery winner learns of $1M windfall while washing his truck!

Donald Dickson is $1 million richer after winning the million-dollar Guaranteed Prize draw on the February 17 LOTTO 6/49 draw… and he learned about it in the middle of sudsing up at the carwash!

The Cypress County resident purchased his LOTTO 6/49 ticket the same way he does every couple of weeks: as a part of a $24 Super Pack. Checking this ticket, however, was a whole new experience.

“I was out washing my truck and decided to scan my ticket on the Lotto Spot app,” he explained while claiming his prize. “I saw the number on the screen and drove to my buddy’s place to get him to check it as well. I just couldn’t believe it!”

He said his wife was even more ecstatic to hear the news.

“I went home to show my wife, and now we’re both making plans!” he said. “We have some renovations we want to take care of and potentially will be buying a new vehicle.”

“We still have young kids,” he explained. “So, this money will go a long way.”

The new millionaire said he’s still in utter disbelief over the win.

Dickson purchased his LOTTO 6/49 ticket from Petro Canada Medicine Hat Travel Centre located at 2900 Box Springs Boulevard in Medicine Hat. He won his prize by matching the Gold Ball draw selection on February 17 – 26741453-01.
