$1M WESTERN MAX Christmas win in Saskatoon!

Richelle Markwart was working on Christmas day when she had the shock of her lifetime.

The Saskatoon local checked her WESTERN MAX ticket on the Lotto Spot app while waiting for a coffee and donut deliiery and screamed when she saw the result.

“I was surrounded by my coworkers,” she said. “I saw it was a million [dollar win] and I said, ‘Oh my God!’”

“I’ve been playing for like 10 years,” she added. “It’s crazy!”

News spread quickly on the job site and her boss asked if she’d be going home early.

“I said, ‘No way! It’s triple time [pay] today!’” she laughed.

Markwart said she plans to share her win with family.

“I’m going to help my kids,” she explained. “And I’m going to set up a fund for my little niece!”

“The rest… I’m going to kind of put it away for retirement,” she continued.

Markwart said she’s still in shock.

“You wait your whole life and then you win it’s like, ‘Holy sh*t!’” she said. “I keep having bursts of emotions. It couldn’t have happened at a better time.”

Markwart purchased her winning WESTERN MAX ticket from One Stop Convenience and Dollar Store at 1631 29 St. in Saskatoon. She won her prize by correctly matching one of the million-dollar prize selections in the December 24 WESTERN MAX draw: 10, 14, 23, 27, 36, 43, 48.
