$15 million LOTTO MAX win in Edmonton!
Andrew Weninger was enjoying sleeping in when he was woken with some fantastic information – he was $15 million richer! The Edmonton resident said his mother checked his LOTTO MAX ticket for the March 26 draw and woke him to tell him the good news.
“My mom came into my room and said, ‘You better get out of bed!’” he recalled while claiming his win at the St. Albert prize office. “I was irritated because I was trying to sleep, but then she told me I had won $15 million… can’t really be irritated about that!”
“I jumped up and said a bunch of things I’m not going to repeat now,” he continued with a laugh. “I was very surprised. I think I’m still in complete disbelief.”
Weninger said he has big plans for his windfall.
“The first thing I did after finding out I had won the lottery was talk to a financial advisor,” he said. “So, I knew early-on I would invest most of the money. But now that I’ve had some time to think about it, I have big plans!”
“I’m going to buy a house and get my dog a friend,” he said. “Eventually I would like to do some travelling too, all around the world. As soon as it’s safe I’m going to start with London, England.”
The winner said he also plans to go back to school and buy himself a car.
Weninger purchased his $55 multi-draw LOTTO MAX ticket at Pleasantville Rexall Drug Store, located at 11080 51 Avenue NW in Edmonton. He won an additional $2 and a Free Play in subsidiary prizes.
