REGINA COUPLE WIN $1 MILLION ON LOTTO 6/49!
Robert and Carol Kydd won the $1 million guaranteed prize on the September 13 LOTTO 6/49 draw. But the lucky ticket sat unnoticed for almost a month before the Regina couple discovered the windfall.
For Robert, the stack of lottery tickets stuck to the refrigerator was a good reason to go for a walk.
“We had a bunch of tickets hanging from our LOTTO MAX clip on the fridge, and Carol said it was starting to look ridiculous,” he remembered. “It seemed like a good excuse to take a break from the garage sale we were having.”
At the store, Robert scanned several non-winning tickets before he came to one that showed a prize.
“The ticket checker said it appeared to be a million-dollar winner, so I checked it again and then called the retailer, Barry, over to check it too,” he said. “He called Carol for me.”
“Barry called me and told me we won a million dollars,’” Carol remembered. “I told him to stop fooling around, but then he put Robert on the phone – he sounded like he was in shock.”
“We couldn’t believe it,” Carol added. “When you play the lottery, you always hope to win, but you never really think you will.”
The couple have begun making plans for their windfall, which include buying a couple of vehicles and beginning home renovations. They also plan to share their good fortune with their family.
“It’s a dream to be able to help our children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren,” Carol said. “We’re thankful that we won, and for the things the lotteries support in sport, culture, and recreation.”
The Kydds bought and checked their $4 LOTTO 6/49 ticket at Park Street Drugs, located at 2415 Park Street in Regina. The winning guaranteed prize draw selection on September 13 was 22606642-01.
