Manitoba Couple Win MAXMILLIONS

Blynda and Ian Thomas are still pinching themselves after discovering they were the lucky ticket holders of a MAXMILLIONS winning lottery ticket from Friday, February 28th.

Blynda picked up their $6 Quick Pick ticket for that evening while stopped for gas at Wavers of Brokenhead in Scanterbury.

“We’ve been playing a lot of years,” Ian said.

The couple didn’t think any more about their ticket until the next day. Blynda went to the Grand Marais Village Store on Saturday afternoon to grab some items and decided to scan their ticket on the ticket checker.“I thought, ‘Oh my God, for real?!’ I actually pinched myself,” she said with a laugh.

“We didn’t know there was a winner in Manitoba,” Blynda explained. “We had no clue.”

She took the ticket to the counter to have the $1 million win confirmed with the Western Canada Lottery Corporation.

“I forgot everything that I went to the store to get!”

“I thought, ‘Oh my God, for real?!’ I actually pinched myself!”

Although Ian wasn’t with her, he was on her mind as the win started to sink in a little.

“I was trying to phone him from the store but I couldn’t remember the number,” she said with a laugh. “I was crying with joy; it’s a very overwhelming experience.”

When she finished registering the win with WCLC, she called Ian.

“I was pretty surprised,” Ian said. “She was crying. I listened for a second and I thought, ‘That sounds like a happy cry.’”

The couple have no major plans for the winnings yet. Blynda would like to take a trip somewhere warm and the couple may buy a new vehicle.

The winning MAXMILLIONS numbers were: 8, 11, 16, 17, 28, 32 and 42.
