Winner takes home $100,000 EXTRA prize
East St. Paul’s Norine Harty was heading into Winnipeg when she stopped at a nearby gas station and decided to check her lottery tickets using the self-checker.
When she scanned her ticket for the April 1 LOTTO MAX draw and revealed a $100,000 win on the EXTRA she added to the ticket, she was stunned.
"Holy cow, I can't believe this," Harty remembers thinking to herself before taking her ticket to the cashier to be validated.
"The machine went off, and everything froze up. Everyone in the store was excited!" Harty recalled.
After the initial shock of her windfall wore off, she called her husband to share the news.
"He thought I was kidding," she laughed.
The winner has some plans for her recent windfall.
"We will take a trip to Europe and put some towards our dream home." She said. "We'd like to buy some toys, do some landscaping and give some to charity."
Harty purchased her ticket from the Sobey's Birds Hill, located at 3156 Birds Hill Road in East St. Paul, on March 31. She won by matching the last six digits of the winning EXTRA number - 2892046
"I am still surprised. I think I'm very blessed," she added.
