Q. The Top Prize on MILLIONAIRE LIFE is an annuity of $1 Million a year for 25 years. What is an annuity?

A. An annuity is a type of long-term investment purchased by the lottery from an annuity provider on behalf of the winner. Annuities allow significant prize payments to be made to winners over an extended period of time. The MILLIONAIRE LIFE Top Prize winner will receive a prize that includes twenty-five (25) payments of $1 Million for 25 consecutive years.

Q. Would the person who wins the Top Prize have to take the annuity, or is a cash option available?

A. The Top Prize winner has a choice between the 25-year annuity and a lump-sum payment of $17 Million.

Q. Why is the cash alternative $17 Million as opposed to $25 Million?

A. Seventeen million dollars ($17 Million) is the approximate cost of the 25-year annuity.
